On this work meeting our host is a – seagull : )

For the first time we held our work meeting in Decin (Czech Republic) and spent three intensive and inspiring days as guests of thriving Druzstvo Racek (Racek in Czech means ‘seagull’). The work of MOBA is crucial for the establishment of pioneering projects of a network of new housing cooperatives active in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia and Slovenia. The existing housing offer in the region is aimed solely at individual home-ownership and tailored to the needs of nuclear families, even though there is a clear need to diversify the types of dwelling and the organisation of housing. Members of Racek shared: ”We are proud to be hosting such an important pioneering network and that we can be part of it.”

The name MOBA comes from a term used in some South Slavic languages and it refers to the widespread custom of mobilizing mutual volutary help. So, we are mobilizing ourselves to build an institutional framework rooted in cooperative principles, in order to jointly enable access to affordable housing and provide durable homes to communities region-wide! On the sidelines of our meeting, we learned about the Inter-Slavic language – created in 2006 on the basis of all Slavic languages. Try to read it, it really makes sense!
